Cathy was born at  Ulambaura Springs (the Traditional Birthing Springs) and lived much of her early life in Papunya and at Ilpily on her Grandmothers land

Her mother Nora Napaltjarri is daughter to Old Andy and Entaleura Nangala

Yala Yala Gibbs brother is Cathy's blood grandfathers brother

Johnny Warrangkula Tjupurrula is Cathy's grandfather on her blood fathers side

Cathy's stepfather Richard Swan Tjakamarra's mother is Nosepeg Tjupurrula's daughter. Richard Tjakamarra is now married to Nora and is the Caretaker of the present Karrinyarra Outstation

Johnny Warrangkula Tjupurrula is Cathy's grandfather on her blood fathers side

Cathy has grown up watching her grandmother Entalura  her mother Nora and her mother’s sister Ada painting

As part of the 3rd generation of Artists in this family she is inspired to paint. Cathy has participated in Australian exhibitions and her first over seas exhibitions’ were in Hawaii and USA in 2007
